Volunteer at Cats Protection Newbury & District Adoption Centre

Without volunteers, Cats Protection Newbury Adoption Centre simply wouldn't exist. Our amazing, friendly volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments.

We're often looking to welcome new volunteers to join our brilliant team. As well as meeting great people and making an incredible difference to the cats of Newbury, you'll enjoy practical benefits such as discounted pet insurance.  We are currently looking for volunteers for the following roles:

Cat Care Volunteers                                                Closing date:        02/05/2024

This role involves cleaning the living environments of the cats in care at our Adoption Centre and is an exciting role for cat lovers, as you will get to spend time directly with the cats when cleaning.

When:  Mondays, 9 - 11am

We ask that you are as passionate about animal welfare as we are, would like to learn about feline welfare and wellbeing and are happy to do some online learning.

Cat Desensitisation Volunteers                             Closing Date:  29/04/2024

Our Cat Desensitisation Volunteers help the cats in our care by spending time enriching their experience through play, exercise and handling before they find their perfect forever home.

Days available:  Mondays or Wednesdays weekly or alternate Saturdays or Sundays.

Time: 2-3 hrs between 11am-3pm

We ask that you are as passionate about animal welfare as we are, would like to learn about feline welfare and wellbeing and are happy to do some online learning.

Fundraising Events Volunteers                             Closing Date:  23/04/2024

In this role, by being the link between members of the public and Cats Protection, the money you help raise will make a significant contribution to improving the lives of cats and kittens at our Adoption Centre.

This role includes:

  • Helping with set up and/or man stalls at events such as Open Days, Jumble Sales and Christmas Bazaars
  • Helping on collection days like supermarket collections or street collections

This role can be flexible and varied - Perhaps you like meeting people and would like to help run a stall at an event or you might prefer being behind the scenes and helping with set up and putting away at the end of an event - All support is really valuable!

However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

Full training and support will be given for all roles

There will be an informal interview process, including references.

If you would like an application form or would like to know more about any of our roles, please get in touch with Andrea at:  volunteering@newbury.cats.org.uk or tel. 01635 200111

Please note;  Although we do welcome everyone, unfortunately our Adoption Centre is not set up to accommodate young volunteers (under the age of 18), including those on the Duke of Edinburgh programme.

However, do please follow the links below to find out if there are any other suitable Cats Protection volunteering opportunities near you:
